In my role leading the redesign for the DC Jazz Festival website, I focused on creating an intuitive and comprehensive online experience for festival-goers. Utilizing analytics and data from previous years, I helped to craft a UX design that catered to the needs of users both on desktop and mobile platforms.
The challenge was to present information about over 150 artists and 200+ venue locations in a user-friendly format. To achieve this, I developed a Drupal website that allowed administrators to easily create and manage each event. This resulted in an interactive schedule that visitors could filter and sort, making it simple to find performances of interest.
Each artist had a dedicated profile page, providing festival-goers with bios, photos, links to their websites and social profiles. Similarly, venue pages were created to offer essential information like directions and venue-specific details, enhancing the user’s planning process.
Another key feature of the site was the inclusion of recaps from past festivals, alongside detailed information about funding, board members, and sponsorships. This not only served as a resource for new attendees but also as an archive celebrating the festival’s history and community impact.
The redesigned website became a central hub for the DC Jazz Festival, significantly improving the way attendees interacted with the event online. It made navigating the festival’s extensive lineup and venues effortless, and enriched the overall experience by providing in-depth artist and venue information.
